I bought this thing for my Rebel XT to try to make it a little more abuse resistant - so I can drop it into a camera bag or backpack. It fell short of that but does have some redeeming qualities.
The problem is my eyepiece doesnt stay on as well as it did before because this piece slides on where the eyepiece went and the eyepiece slides into the cover. The top secures nicely, but the bottom of the cover doesnt really have anything to hang onto and can be misaligned causing the buttons to be pressed. The anti glare is ok, just marginally better than without it. The hood does come off leaving a protective cover over the LCD. If you are looking for some scratch protection just get the PDA or iPod screen covers that you can cut to size.
It does one of the major functions well that I wanted and that is to give me something to lay the camera on besides the lens - because with anything but the 50mm the Rebel is very lens heavy. So, overall it isnt quite worth the going price, but there isnt anything else cheaper.
Pro: does offer protection
Con: price, fit not perfect but ok.
